More than 180 years after our founding, the mission of the Samaritan Society is, unfortunately, no less relevant or valued.  Too many of  our fellow Salemites live just minutes away from us, but in a very different world. In their world, it is a struggle to keep the heat on, their children clothed, their car running. One hundred children in our schools are officially homeless; nearly half of our city’s children depend on school breakfast and lunch programs as their main source of nutrition. More than 8,000 people in Salem live in this world, officially below the poverty line.

All contributions go directly to assisting others; we have no office, no overhead… and no lack of requests for help. We welcome donations of any amount. Please give generously and make a lasting impact on the lives of your neighbors. Thank you!
